Now, we\u2019re tackling Facebook community guidelines, just in time for you to start planning your Facebook content strategy for 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What Are <span style=\"color: #5339d3;\">You NOT Allowed To Post<\/span> <span style=\"color: #5339d3;\">or Do<\/span> on Facebook?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All the things that you are NOT allowed to post or do on Facebook are outlined in their <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/transparency.fb.com\/policies\/community-standards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Community Standards<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below, we\u2019ve provided a brief summary of those standards, which ensure that the posts you publish and the way you interact with other users are compatible with their <strong>five primary values:<\/strong> voice, authenticity, safety, privacy, and dignity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Violence and Criminal <span style=\"color: #333333;\">Behavior<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook will remove any posts that incite, threaten, encourage, promote, praise, support, represent, facilitate, or lead people to believe that you provide or engage with any of the following entities or activities:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Violence against other people or groups<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Dangerous organizations and individuals (i.e., terrorist groups, violent actors, etc.)<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Harmful or criminal acts<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Fraud and deception (i.e., loan sharks, phishing, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, Facebook prohibits the purchase, sale, trade, donation, or gifting of these restricted goods and services:<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Firearms<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> High-risk drugs<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Non-medical drugs<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Pharmaceutical drugs<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Marijuana<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Endangered species of wildlife or plants<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Live non-endangered animals (except livestock)<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Human blood<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Alcohol or tobacco<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Weight loss products that contain a \u201cmiracle\u201d claim<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Historical artifacts<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Entheogens<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Hazardous goods and materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>2. <span style=\"color: #333333;\">Safety<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook\u2019s specific measures regarding community safety are designed to protect people from coming to harm or being intimidated on the platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Topics and behaviors that Facebook limits or even prohibits are listed below.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Suicide and self-injury<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Child exploitation, abuse, and nudity<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Adult sexual exploitation<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Bullying and harassment<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Human exploitation<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Private information or personally identifiable information (i.e., government IDs, medical records, personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We do want to note that Facebook allows its users to discuss the items on the above list. For example, they may allow a suicide survivor to share their story. What it doesn\u2019t allow is the solicitation, encouragement, incitement, or glorification of any of those things.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. <span style=\"color: #333333;\">Objectionable <\/span>Content<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Objectionable content is content that contains imagery or topics that the majority of people find offensive. It includes:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Hate speech<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Violent and graphic content<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Adult nudity and sexual activity<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Sexual solicitation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a few situations where Facebook may allow posts that contain \u201cobjectionable\u201d photos, videos, or language.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-note\"  style=\"border-color:#e5ddce;border-radius:14px;-moz-border-radius:14px;-webkit-border-radius:14px;\"><div class=\"su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\" style=\"background-color:#fff7e8;border-color:#ffffff;color:#000000;border-radius:14px;-moz-border-radius:14px;-webkit-border-radius:14px;\"><strong>For example,<\/strong> their Community Standards state that violent or graphic content may be allowed in the context of bringing awareness to and condemning human rights abuses.<\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, users may also be allowed to post about adult nudity if:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> They are sharing health-related information;<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> The subject in the photo or video is breastfeeding;<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Their post is about a painting, sculpture, or some other art piece.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3><strong>4. Integrity and Authenticity<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A big factor in the creation of safe, wholesome content for people on Facebook to enjoy is holding creators accountable for their integrity and authenticity. To that end, Facebook\u2019s Community Standards outline several policies that cut down on these common dishonest (and in some cases harmful) activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\"><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Spamming<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Identity theft<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Inauthentic behavior<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Spreading misinformation<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Compromising other users\u2019 security<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Misleading other users about your business, identity, etc.<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Impersonating other people<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Buying or selling engagement<\/div><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bottom line is that if you\u2019re going to post on Facebook, you should actively avoid scamming or deceiving your followers. Easy, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>5. Intellectual Property<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Facebook prohibits posting content that violates someone else\u2019s copyright or trademark claims. In other words, you should never post an image or video that doesn\u2019t belong to you and claim it as your own.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>What Are <span style=\"color: #5339d3;\">You Allowed To Post and Do<\/span> on Facebook?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With all that said about what you can\u2019t post, what <\/span><b>can <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">you post on Facebook without landing in serious trouble?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The answer is<\/strong>, quite a bit! There\u2019s actually no limit to what you can post if you\u2019re smart, creative, and committed to adhering to Facebook\u2019s Community Standards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below are <strong>some examples<\/strong> of common Facebook Page posts that \u2013 as long as they don\u2019t feature or promote graphic sex, violent threats, racial slurs, etc. \u2013 are perfectly fine to add to your Page.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"su-list\" style=\"margin-left:0px\">\n<ul>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Photos<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Videos<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Memes<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Polls<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Questions to your audience<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Calls to action (CTAs)<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Promotions<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Life or business updates<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Product listings<\/li>\n<li><i class=\"sui sui-location-arrow\" style=\"color:#5339D3\"><\/i> Links to your website, products, and\/or other social media sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2><strong>Which Facebook Community Standards <span style=\"color: #5339d3;\">Violations Can Get Your Posts Taken Down?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your post violates Facebook\u2019s Community Standards, your post will get taken down \u2013 period. It doesn\u2019t matter which policy you went up against.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t agree with the reason that they removed it, though, you can <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/help\/2090856331203011?helpref=faq_content\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dispute it<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by going to your<\/span><b> Support Inbox<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under <\/span><b>Settings <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on Facebook, open the message that the platform sent you about your post, and click <\/span><b>disagree with decision<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, there are cases where the violation is so severe, or you\u2019ve committed so many offenses in a row, that you\u2019ll suffer even worse consequences: having your Facebook account disabled or terminated.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How Many Facebook Community Standards <span style=\"color: #5339d3;\">Strikes Before Your Account is Terminated?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The answer is:<\/strong> it\u2019s up to Facebook\u2019s discretion. Let\u2019s elaborate a little more on that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>On the one hand<\/strong>, for most violations, you would have to get <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/transparency.fb.com\/enforcement\/taking-action\/restricting-accounts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more than 10 strikes<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a 90-day period to be at risk for a full disabling of your account or outright termination.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>On the other hand<\/strong>, however, Facebook is also not above disabling or terminating your account after one violation (or however many they decide to tolerate) if that violation was extremely severe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The big takeaway here is that the majority of users will get a lot of second chances when they violate Facebook\u2019s Community Standards. That is, unless they post or behave in a way that is so offensive (or illegal) that Facebook has no choice but to delete their account for their community\u2019s safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, having a lot of strikes against you isn\u2019t something to aspire to or celebrate. The more strikes you accumulate within 90 days, the more Facebook restricts your activity. With 10 or more strikes against you, you\u2019ll be restricted from posting content for 30 days, which could be a death knell for your Page.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make things fairer, Facebook doesn\u2019t count strikes on offending content that was posted more than 90 days ago. So, if you do make a small mistake or two, there\u2019s a light at the end of the tunnel.
