Facebook remains the world’s largest social media network, attracting over 3 billion monthly active users to the platform. Business owners need to stake their claim on their business by creating a Facebook Business Page.

Think of your page as a digital representation of your company on Facebook, where you can share your:

  • Address
  • Contact details
  • Website
  • So much more

If you want to connect to your audience as a business, creating a business page is a must because it also unlocks advertising tools and Facebook Shops.

Follow these ten easy steps below👇to create your page and adjust the settings to match your needs.

Step #1: Create Your Page

See More Pages

Open up your Facebook account. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to sign up and go to Pages on the left side of the screen. You may need to go to See more > Pages if you don’t see it.

From here, click on + Create New Page.

Create New Profile or Page

Step #2: Add Your Page Name and Category

Category and Page Name Information

You’ll be prompted to add your page’s information, including:

  • Page name
  • Category

We recommend that you use your real business name and fill in the categories as close to your business as possible. Since people may be searching for your business name on Facebook, your name needs to be recognizable.

For example, if you’re a social media marketing company, you may enter the business name:

  • Social Media Company LLC (just an example. Use your real name).
  • Social Media Agency as the category of the business. Add multiple categories if you like.

If you want, you can add your bio at this stage or do it in the next section. We recommend following the guidelines in step 3 to fill out your bio the right way.

Step #3: Fill in the Bio

Fill Bio

Your company bio is an optional section, but we recommend filling it out in its entirety. A few tips💡that can help you create a bio worth reading are:

  • Bios can only have a maximum of 100 characters, so keep it short.
  • Write a succinct bio that explains what your brand does.
  • Add your brand slogan if you have one.

You’ll click Create Page when you’re done.

Once your bio is complete, it’s time to add in your details.

Step #4: Add Your Business Details

Add Business Details

Facebook allows you to add your details on the next page, titled Finish setting up your Page. We recommend filling in as many details as you can for your business, including but not limited to:

  • Website
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Location
  • Hours of operation

If you don’t want to add this information yet, you can edit it in the future. In either case, move to Step 5 by clicking Next.

Step #5: Start Adding All of Your Profile Images

Profile and Cover Image

A blank page with text isn’t eye-catching or fun to look at, so it’s time to begin customizing the page with a cover photo and profile picture. Recommended sizes are:

  • Cover Photo: 820 x 312
  • Profile Picture: 180 x 180

Unless you’re the face of your business, simply add your logo as your profile picture. Since your page’s banner is much larger, you should make this an important photo. A few ideas for a banner photo are:

  • Team photo
  • Brick-and-mortar picture of your location
  • Main product that you sell

In addition to the images that you can upload, there’s an option to Add Action Button, which can be a lot of things, such as a “Book now” button, “View shop,” “Send message,” and so much more.

You’ll still be on the Customize your Page section at this point and can click Next to proceed. On the next screen, you can connect your WhatsApp if you like, but you can tap Skip if you don’t want or have WhatsApp.

Step #6: Invite People to Your Page

Invite People

Invite your friends, families and even employees to follow your Facebook Business Page. You can invite your friends right on the screen and can hit Next when you’ve added everyone you want to be a part of the page.

📝 Note: Don’t skip this step. It always looks good to have a few people following your business page.

Step #7: Update Your Notification Settings

Update Notification

When something happens on your Page, you’ll want to be notified. You should toggle the option on during this step by clicking the toggle next to the bell button and words Page notification on your profile.

Finally, click Done when you’re ready, and your page is now ready for the world to see.

Step #8: Change Your Privacy Settings

Privacy Settings

Privacy settings should be reviewed and adjusted because you own your page and should have your preferred options toggled. You can navigate to these settings by:

  • Navigating to the left side of your business page
  • Going to Settings > Privacy

Now, on this page, you’ll toggle all of the settings you want on and off. For example, you can allow others to leave reviews for your business on Facebook, which is a great way to build trust.

Step #9: Connect Your Instagram

Connect Accounts

Remember a few steps back when you could add your WhatsApp? Well, you can also go to Settings > Linked Accounts and connect your:

  • Instagram
  • WhatsApp (if you change your mind and want to link it)

Why bother connecting your Instagram? Linking your accounts allows you to manage both platforms in a single dashboard, which is really convenient. Otherwise, this isn’t a necessary step to take.

Step #10: Add Your First Post

Add First Post

While your page is still in front of you and freshly created, it’s also a great time to add your first post. You can start by:

  • Asking a question to your followers.
  • Showing a picture of your new office.
  • Conducting a poll.
  • Going Live.
  • Posting anything you wish.

And that’s it. Now that you’re done setting up your page and have made your first post, you’ll want to add posting to your daily social media routine. Regularly posting and engaging with your business’s followers will help you grow your brand on the world’s largest social network – Facebook.
