It’s a tale as old as time. When a customer or a user has a problem with a service, like a social media platform, their first instinct is to reach out to the company’s support line for aid.

But is there such a support line for Instagram? If so, you may be wondering, “How do I contact Instagram support?”

As you’re about to see, starting a conversation with a support agent from Instagram is not an easy task. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t get help! In fact, there are several methods you can use to receive the help you need, depending on the specific issue you’re facing.

Before we get into those methods, though, let’s find out if Instagram has a support phone number or email address.

Does Instagram Have a Support Phone Number?

Once upon a time, Instagram had two support phone numbers: (650) 543-4800 and (650) 308-7300.

However, we don’t recommend calling either of them now. According to several sources on the internet, no one ever answers the phone. It’s basically a waste of your time and data.

Does Instagram Have a Support Email?

How about email? After all, most support centers at least have an email address where you can send messages to request help.

Not Instagram, though!

They used to have an email address. It was But now, if you try to contact it, you’ll receive an automated message in return saying, “You’ve reached us at a channel that we no longer support.”

Here Are 3 Other Ways You Can Contact Instagram Support

With both phone and email out of the picture, what options are left to contact support at Instagram?

The good news is there are four ways you can get support for your problem. You still may not speak directly with an Instagram agent, but in most cases, your issue will get resolved.

Let’s go through the four main problems that Instagram users need support for and then guide you through each corresponding solution.

Problem #1: You’re Having Trouble Logging in

Solution: Request Instagram Support

Having trouble logging into Instagram is an extremely common issue. The reason varies, though. For example, you may have simply forgotten your password or your account may have been hacked.

Here’s how to request Instagram support if you’re unable to log into your account.👇

Step #1: Open your preferred web browser and go to

Step #2: Select the reason that you can’t get into your account from the following options:

  • My account was hacked
  • I forgot my password
  • The login code was sent to a mobile number or email that I don’t have access to
  • Someone used my name, photos or information to create a new account
  • My account was disabled
  • Something else

Step #3: Click Next

The following screen will provide you with your next steps based on the reason you chose for not being able to log into your Instagram account.

Problem #2: You’ve Encountered a Technical Issue

Solution: Report a Technical Problem in Settings and Privacy

If you’ve encountered a technical problem in Instagram, such as a feature that’s not working, then there’s a specific way you should ask for support.

You should start by going to Settings and Privacy and report the problem under Help. From here, you can either let Instagram know what the issue is by going to the part of the app where you first experienced it and shaking your smartphone, or by describing it in detail.

Below is a more detailed step-by-step guide to reporting a technical problem on Instagram.

Step #1: Open Instagram and go to your profile.

Step #2: Select the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of your profile.

Step #3: Select Settings and Privacy.

Step #4: Scroll down and select Help.

Step #5: Select Report a problem.

Step #6: From here, you have two options:

  • Go Back and Shake Phone: Selecting this option allows you to go back to where you saw the problem in the app and shake your phone. Make sure that Shake phone to report a problem is toggled on.
  • Report Problem without Shaking: If you choose this option, you will be given a choice to include or not include the complete logs and diagnostics about your device, Instagram account, and the app. After that, Instagram will ask you to describe the problem in detail. You can even include screenshots to support your claim.
Pro Tip: If you’re accessing the Instagram app via an iPhone or Android phone, you can report a technical problem as soon as you see it by shaking your phone. You don’t have to go through Settings and Privacy first.

Problem #3: You Saw or Received Abusive Content or Spam

Solution: Report Instagram Content or a Profile in Your Feed

This third solution is available for users who need support because they witnessed or experienced abusive content or spam.

Abusive content or spam is anything that doesn’t align with Instagram’s Community Guidelines, which are put in place to keep its users safe and secure.

Thus, if you see a post on the app that you feel is inappropriate or deceptive, you should file a report on it.

If the content or profile you reported does, indeed, violate Instagram’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service, the platform will take it down. They may even restrict or terminate the account that posted it, depending on the severity of the offense.

However, you shouldn’t go to Settings and Privacy to report abusive or spam content.

Instead, here’s the way that Instagram recommends you do it.

To Report Content:

Step #1: Open Instagram and find the post, Story, Reel, or direct message you want to report.

Step #2: Select the three vertical dots at the top of the post.

In this situation, either you or someone you know is being targeted by someone else through direct messages, posts, or both. You or the other person are being insulted, threatened, and abused by this third party.

Instagram has a special reporting system in place for scenarios like this. If you want to report harassment or bullying and get help, follow this link to a page in the Instagram Help Center.
