According to recent statistics on global advertising audience reach, YouTube boasts an extensive user base of over 2.527 billion individuals worldwide as of 2024. This remarkable figure signifies the platform’s widespread popularity and highlights its ability to attract users from all over the world.

When considering the age distribution of YouTube’s audience based on the data from April 2023, a staggering 522.5 million users, representing approximately 20.7% of the total audience, fall within the 25 to 34 age range.

Following closely behind, the second largest group comprises individuals aged 35 to 44, making up approximately 16.7% of YouTube’s audience.

Furthermore, users aged 18 to 24 account for around 15.0% of the platform’s audience.

These figures underline the significant variations in YouTube’s user base across different countries, highlighting the platform’s popularity and reach in India while indicating a comparatively smaller presence in Turkey.

The amount of unique users to the platform highlights YouTube’s immense popularity and reach, solidifying its position as a dominant force in the digital landscape.

Specifically, YouTube has the highest number of unique users compared to other platforms, with an impressive 1.2% reach.

YouTube gets billions of monthly visits. Whether accessed through mobile devices or desktop computers, YouTube’s global appeal is a testament to its immense popularity and influence in the digital realm.

Compared to the traffic recorded in April, the number of YouTube visits witnessed a notable increase of 8.4% in May 2023.

Throughout the month, YouTube received 94.54 billion visits, with users spending an average session duration of 36 minutes and 38 seconds on the platform. On average, each visitor explored up to 5.5 different pages while visiting.

In this context, desktops account for only 11.1% of visits, while mobile devices contribute 88.9% of the total visitor base. The data indicates that most YouTube users prefer the flexibility and portability offered by their mobile devices, enabling them to access videos on the go, irrespective of location.

Out of the total visits to YouTube, users from the United States accounted for approximately 13.02% or 12.31 billion visits, making them the most significant contributor. 

Following closely behind, users from India represented 11.75% of the total visits.

Regarding device usage, across all countries, users predominantly use mobile devices to access YouTube.

Mobile devices had a significant presence in Belarus and Thailand, with usage percentages of 98.81% and 97.84%, respectively.

According to the latest data, approximately 75.61% of the website’s traffic originates from direct visits. It indicates that users directly type the YouTube URL into their browsers or access it through bookmarks.

Following direct traffic, Google accounts for approximately 1.59% of YouTube’s incoming traffic.

In addition, after users finish browsing YouTube, it is observed that many of them proceed to visit two other major online platforms, Google and Facebook.

YouTube users utilize the platform for various purposes, with the majority seeking engaging and enjoyable content as their primary motivation (50%).

Following closely behind is the desire to expand one’s knowledge and acquire new information (42%), while 31% turn to YouTube to discover fresh ideas and gain inspiration.

Larger YouTube channels enjoy more significant engagement rates than those with smaller audiences. Specifically, channels with follower counts ranging from 100K to 1M exhibit the highest level of engagement, boasting an impressive 3.47% rate.

However, this trend is closely followed by prominent YouTube influencers with over 1M followers, who achieve a noteworthy engagement rate of 3.40%.

In contrast, smaller YouTube channels with a modest following of 1K to 5K struggle to maintain engagement, with a comparatively lower rate of 1.90%.

Recent statistics indicate that video remains a favored choice for most businesses. In 2023, 91% of enterprises have adopted video as a crucial marketing tool, marking the highest adoption rate since 2016. 96% of marketers state that video is an “important part” of their marketing strategy.
